John Legend on Oprah
I am a John Legend fanatic, after hearing his last cd I am very much anticipating the arrival of his new cd 'Once Again' . He sat with Oprah last week to discuss his career and how winning 3 grammy's has changed him.
Soul singer and pianist John Legend has the music industry excited! Legendary music producer Quincy Jones says, "I have no doubt [John] will become as artistically and socially significant as Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder."After winning three Grammys® for his debut album, Get Lifted—which sold more than 3 million copies worldwide— John is releasing his new CD,Once Again, on Oct. 24!
John says winning three Grammys®—including Best New Artist— felt "very good." "It made me want to go back to work, too. … I felt inspired," he says. And that's exactly what John did. He started work on Once Again more fulfilled and motivated than before. Even with all his high profile success, John says he didn't feel a lot of pressure to create "hits" for his new album."To me, it wasn't about hits, it was about making great songs. Every day I would go to the studio and my goal was: Let's try to make a great song and then record it the best way we can," John says.
And you make enough of those, you got a great album."So how have the Grammys® changed John's life?"In a lot of ways it hasn't changed. I'm still a musician. I still love to write music. I love to perform and that part of it is the same, except I get to do more now," John says. "I get to do it all the time. I get to do it in front of thousands of people cheering now instead of hundreds. I'm just happier, I think."
This song is amazing, I love it. This video doesn't do it justice though. It has a 70's feel which I'm loving right now.
